Meeting Transition with Grace

By Dr. Jennifer Tufenkian, ND

When the leaves turn color and the sweet smell of baking apples permeates our home, I know another autumn has arrived. Those of us who live in the Pacific Northwest have had to say goodbye to a long, dry summer and welcome in a capricious fall — initially wet and windy, now crisp and clear. As we transition from one season to the next, I want to update you with the news from Natural Choices Health Clinic.

Many of you know that I took over the clinic from Dr. Judy Neall when she stepped into her role as an administrator for the nonprofit Compassion & Choices in 2011. Since then, Natural Choices has grown to include three new practitioners:

We also hope to introduce an acupuncturist and massage therapist in the coming months.

I've been enjoying my new role as clinic director, but I'm still deeply dedicated to my holistic practice. My colleagues and I are always continuing to research and learn new techniques and therapies to help our patients enjoy full health. Please take a look at our website to see the full list of services we offer.

It's not only the clinic itself that's growing and changing; we're also expanding the ways in which we reach out to our community. We're looking forward to sharing news, recipes, health tips, and stories with you in the following ways:

E-Newsletter: We will be sending out a quarterly e-mail to keep you abreast of what is new at the clinic and to share seasonal health tips and recipes. Our intent is to stay in touch with you and provide information without overwhelming your inbox. If there is a topic you would like us to cover, please send us an e-mail (

Website: We just launched our new website! Please visit it often and share it with friends or family who are interested in natural healing methods and information. There is a wealth of resources on the site already, and it is our intention to continually update the site with new health-related news.

(FREE!) Quarterly Webinar: We will be offering free webinars throughout the year, so please tune in and invite your friends and family to watch as well! Each webinar will be fun and informative. The schedule will be announced soon on our website.

Online Cooking Program: Cooking and baking are passions of mine, and I'm always striving to create recipes that are both healthy and delicious. I'm currently working on an online series of cooking programs that will be available to purchase on our website in early 2014.

One of the things I love most about my practice as a naturopathic doctor is the wide range of tools I have at hand to help my patients. Naturopathic treatment plans can involve lifestyle changes, herbs, homeopathy, counseling, and bodywork. I'm grateful that Natural Choices is able to offer a variety of collaborative and unique practices, so that our patients may meet all (or most) of their treatment and health needs in one location.
